SA TENNIS TEAM MAKES A CLEAN SWEEP AT DAVIS CUP TOURNAMENT 

The South African Davis Cup tennis team will know on 12 May who they will come up against in the promotional play-off match for the elite World Group in September. 

South Africa
made a clean sweep in their tie against Belarus at the Arthur Ashe Tennis complex in Soweto on 9-10 May, beating the Belarussians 5-nil.  The South Africans already qualified for the promotional play-off match on Sunday after a win in the doubles. 

Raven Klaasen played well on Monday and beat Siarhei Betau with a score of 6-1, 6-4. "I definitely didn't want to give them anything.We came out here with the goal of getting five points on the board," said Klaasen.  Izak van der Merwe continued his winning ways by beating Andrei Karatchenia 6-1, 6-3. The World Group playoffs draw will be made at the Davis Cup headquarters in London on 12 May. SA could be drawn to play one of eight countries who lost in the first round of this year's World Group.
