Dr Danny Jordaan, Chief Executive of the 2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC), announced that close to two million tickets have been sold for the event.

Jordaan said he was very happy with the sales, adding that a total of 1, 2 million applications were received from 192 countries during this phase of ticket sales, indicating that people from 192 countries disagree with soccer legend, Pele who said South Africa needs to deal with its security situation or else the world cup would be a failure.

Rich Mkhondo, Chief Communications Officer for the LOC, says  the LOC is focusing on carrying out its preparations in order to ensure the event’s success. On a recent visit to South Africa, the Argentinian team coach, Diego Maradona, said that he had no concerns regarding security in South Africa and that he was looking forward to the World Cup.
