Tourism
Tourism as an industry is well advanced in South Africa and South African Tourism, a government body, is the key organisation for its promotion. SA Tourism works closely with the International Marketing Council and the private sector to make South Africa better known as an exceptional destination for business and tourism. The number of overseas visitors coming to South Africa each year is growing, especially from the key markets of UK, US, Germany, France and the Netherlands. The number of cruise ships visiting Cape Town and Durban has increased substantially post 9/11, as has golf tourism and the use of time-share facilities in South Africa. According to the latest estimates, tourism contributes about 8% to GDP. The Tourism Minister believes South Africa has the potential to grow this figure to 12%.
